iControl Networks Names MIE Alum Hagerty as CEO

On September 28, iControl Networks, a leader in broadband home management, announced the appointment of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering Department alumnus Robert (Bob) Hagerty as the company's new CEO. As CEO, Hagerty will focus on product execution with iControl's existing customer and partner networks, as well as growing the company through new market and partnership opportunities. Hagerty will replace co-CEOs Jim Johnson and Paul Dawes, both of whom will remain with iControl in leadership positions. "I am excited to join the iControl team and help the company execute on its vision for bringing advanced broadband home management to millions of homes," Hagerty said.

He added that "The company has already transformed the industry, and with our partners now putting products in homes, we will see an explosion in consumer adoption."

Hagerty comes to iControl with more than 35 years of experience in the technology industry. He most recently served as CEO of Polycom, a worldwide leader in video and voice conferencing, and web and data solutions. During his tenure at Polycom, Hagerty increased company revenue from $37 million to $1.1 billion through organic growth and key acquisitions, and held the lead unit market share in video and voice conferencing equipment.

"Bob has a track record of scaling technology companies by delivering a high-quality experience for both end customers and channel partners," said John Doerr, partner at Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers and member of iControl's Board of Directors. "iControl has an expanding customer and partner network, and we are confident that Bob will aggressively and successfully lead the company into the next phase of growth."

Before joining Polycom, Hagerty held executive roles at several of the world's leading technology companies, including Digital Equipment Corporation, Conner Peripherals, and Logitech, Inc.

He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in operations research and industrial engineering from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and a master's degree in management from St. Mary's College of California. In addition to his Polycom board membership, Bob served on the board of directors for Palm, Inc. and Modulus, Inc. He currently serves on the boards of Smart Technologies, Inc. and Plantronics, Inc.
