Tobiason Presents at International Water Association Conference in Oslo

Dr. John Tobiason

Dr. Tobiason will present a paper at the International Water Association Particle Separation Conference in Oslo Norway, June 22-24, 2016.  Dr. Tobiason is a member of the Management Committee for the Particle Separation Specialist Group of IWA. Results from research on the use of a "green" oxidant, ferrate (Fe(VI)), for drinking water treatment will be summarized.

ChE Research Highlighted in Chemistry World

A recent publication by Sarah Perry’s Research Group in the Chemical Engineering Department was just highlighted in Chemistry World, published by the Royal Society of Chemistry, and will also be spotlighted in the next annual report for the Advanced Photon SourceLab on a Chip, with an impact factor of 6.115, originally posted the Perry Group’s article, entitled “Graphene-based microfluidics for serial crystallography,” on May 24, 2016.

Brown Presents at UNESCO

Professor Casey Brown, director of the Hydrosystems Research Group, presented an invited talk at the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in Paris on June 15th.  The occasion was the 12th Kovacs Colloquium on Water Related Sustainable Development Goals Implementation. 

Engineering Alums Come Home to Massachusetts for Biennial Conference

From June 14 to 16, Mechanical and Industrial Engineering (MIE) Department alums Scot Chisholm ’04 and Pat Walsh ’03 hosted a biennial three-day conference called “The Collaborative” for nonprofits and businesses doing world-changing socially innovative work. Chisholm and Walsh are the co-founders of Classy, a San Diego company that provides online fundraising technology to nonprofits and other “social enterprises.” The event was held at Cruiseport in the Boston Seaport district. See Boston Globe article.
