Erin Baker, associate dean at the College of Engineering and a professor in the Mechanical and Industrial Engineering Department, recently visited colleagues from the University of Ghana and University of Cape Town as part of a World University Network grant, which established the Sustainable Energy-Access Network for Africa. Baker made the visits with Nate Whitaker, a professor of mathematics at UMass Amherst, as part of a team effort to boost access to electricity systems Africa-wide.
